A new training will be offered at ISFI / IFAS in Chartres (Eure-et-Loir), from the start of September 2021. The school will also become an Institute of Ambulance training. It will be the first to offer ambulance training in the department.
“This openness is the result of consultation with the Region and the Center-Val de Loire Regional Health Agency, since we saw a real need on the side of recruiters”, says the director of the” IFSI / IFAS de Chartres, Christophe Peters.
In Eure-et-Loir, thirty-nine private ambulance companies exist, as well as a certain number of ambulance SMUR, distributed in particular over the branches of Chartres, Dreux, Châteaudun and Nogent-le-Rotrou. Among these private companies, thirty-seven are interested in welcoming interns or work-study students from the future Ambulance Training Institute.
Two ambulance drivers from Chartres will be part-time to provide lessons. We are lucky, because they are active outside the Formation Institute. It will be the only IFA in France to offer this.
Training that combines practice and theory
Two classes will graduate every year, the first starting in September, the second in February. “Each promotion will have twenty pupils, which covers the needs of the territory”, assures Christophe Peters.
Two courses are possible in the future Ambulance Training Institute. One lasts four and a half months, the other an apprenticeship, over eight months of training.
The training will consist of eight theoretical modules, including emergency procedures, clinical condition of somebody, hygiene and the prevention, ergonomics, relationships and communication, safety of medical transport …
Five weeks of internships will be required to validate the diploma.
Eligibility conditions
To access the courses, no diploma is requested. You just need to have a permit, which is no longer probative and still valid.
The written admissibility test made up of a French subject at the college patent level and an arithmetic subject. Eligible candidates then take an oral test. An exemption from the eligibility test may be granted depending on the diplomas obtained.
The qualities appreciated for a paramedic ? “Responsiveness, contact, adaptability and a sense of responsibility”.
