A 19-year-old man has been in police custody since Monday, June 28, 2021, in a case of false checks.
At the end of the afternoon, he went to the Carrefour shopping center in Chartres to buy a games console sold for € 1,400.
He presented an identity card and a check to the cashier. But the documents being suspect, the employee warned the security who contacted the financial brigade.
Other fraudulent purchases
The documents were false. The man, domiciled in Seine-Saint-Denis, was taken into police custody. His car, a Citroën C4, was searched.
It contained two cell phone and computer purchase tickets, for a total sum of € 3,000, in a store in Le Mans (Sarthe) and Saint-Pierre-des-Corps (Indre-et-Loire).
At the hearing, he allegedly explained that he had committed these scams to repay a debt to a third party. His police custody has been extended.
