Charlotte Hornets 125-127 Milwaukee Bucks Antetokounmpo finished with 40 points and 12 rebounds
GIannis Antetokounmpo hit a layup with 2 seconds remaining to give the Milwaukee Bucks a 127-125 win over the Charlotte Hornets on Wednesday night and reach eight wins in a row.
Antetokounmpo finished with 40 points and 12 rebounds and Khris Middleton had 21 points for the Bucks.
LaMelo Ball set a career-high 36 points for the Hornets, followed by Kelly Oubre Jr. with 25 and Miles Bridges with 22.
Middleton hit a 3-pointer to put Milwaukee ahead 123-122 with 52 seconds left. Antetokounmpo’s layup in the next possession was invalidated by an offensive foul.
Gordon Hayward missed a mid-range shot for the Hornets and Middleton hit two free throws to extend the score to 125-122 with 8.6 seconds remaining.
Ball responded with a triple – his eighth of the game – with 5.9 seconds left to tie the score at 125. After a timeout, Jrue Holliday assisted Antetokounmpo for a layup.
Charlotte made 10 of 17 3-point attempts in the first quarter, and Oubre’s three-point shot in the closing seconds put the Hornets ahead 41-25 heading into the second period. Oubre scored 20 points in the first half when he made five of seven triples.
Milwaukee took its first lead at 91-90 thanks to George Hill’s three-point play with 2:25 left in the third period.
