Joining the ranks of Taylor Swift, Beyoncé and Madonna, Charlotte Cardin will become the first Canadian to be named Woman of the Year by the renowned magazine. Billboard during the event Billboard Canada Women in Musicpresented on September 7 in Toronto.
The event Billboard Women in Music was created in 2007 to celebrate extraordinary women in the music industry who have made significant contributions to the industry and who, through their work and continued success, inspire generations of women to take on greater leadership roles in the industry.

Several awards are given out each year, including the Woman of the Year award, which has been presented to Beyoncé (2009), Taylor Swift (2011 and 2014), Katy Perry (2012), Lady Gaga (2015), Madonna (2016), Billie Eilish (2019) and SZA (2023). Last June, Colombian singer Karol G became the first South American artist to win the honor at the global level.
The first ceremony of the Canadian version of the event will be held at DPRTMNT in Toronto on September 7. Charlotte Cardin will perform alongside Alanis Morissette, Jully Black, Jessie Reyez, Tia Wood, Lu Kala, Havilah Mighty and Rêve, another Montrealer who has won four Juno Awards since 2023.
Since the release of his second album 99 Nights Last year, the singer, who turns 30 in November, was busy, releasing two EPs, winning two Juno Awards and performing at the NBA All-Star Game and in front of U.S. President Joe Biden at a gala in Ottawa. 99 Nights is also in the running for the Polaris Prize, which will be awarded on September 17 in Toronto.
