Charlie McDowell excited to work with wife Lily Collins: ‘A truly special experience’

The director spoke of his enthusiasm in collaborating on set with the star of Emily in Paris.

Charlie McDowell said he never tires of working with his wife, Emily in Paris star Lily Collins. Interviewed by People magazine, the director said he is always enthusiastic when he has the possibility of collaborating with Collins.

McDowell, son of A Clockwork Orange star Malcolm McDowell, was interviewed at the premiere of his latest film, The Summer Bookat the TLC Chinese Theater in Los Angeles, during the American Film Institute Fest.

“Lily and I have a fantastic relationship as a couple, and this always reflects in our working relationship too” explained the director, also referring to the production company that the two share, la Case Study Films.

The idea was born jointly:“Let’s do it together, we said. Whatever story we’re telling, it’s really exciting to be able to work and create together with your partner. It’s a truly special experience”.

New collaboration

Collins and McDowell are working together on the Hulu miniseries, Razzlekhan: The Infamous Crocodile of Wall Streetwhich tells the story of two cybercriminals named Ilya Dutch Lichtenstein and Heather Razzlekhan Morgan.

The Emily in Paris actress will produce and star alongside Alex Orlovsky while Charlie McDowell will be the director. The pair had previously worked together on the thriller Windfall in 2022. Recalling the early days of their collaborations, the director said:“I think we just jumped in and figured out how to proceed along the way, and it was great.”.

On possible contraindicationshere are the words of the husband of the star of Emily in Paris:“Someone had warned us and told us various things, we didn’t know what to expect. In the end it was a really positive experience, and it brought us even closer”.
