“Charlie Bird’s Bucket List: Meeting Bruce Springsteen and Supporting Pieta House’s Darkness into Light”

Beloved RTE broadcaster Charlie Bird has expressed uncertainty about fulfilling his dream of meeting Bruce Springsteen before he dies. The legendary musician and his E Street Band will perform in Dublin’s RDS on May 5, 7 and 9. Despite his hopes for a personal encounter with the Born To Run singer, Charlie, who has been battling Motor Neurone Disease since his October 2021 diagnosis, said he has “no idea” whether this will happen. Bruce Springsteen holds a special place in Charlie’s heart since he met his wife, Claire, at one of his concerts 16 years ago. Charlie also shared his final wishes of having ‘Land of Hope and Dreams’ played at his funeral and helping charity Pieta House “as long” as he can. He appealed to the public to take part in Pieta’s annual walking event and fundraiser, Darkness into Light, highlighting the importance of supporting people in dark places.
