Charles Martinet, who previously voiced Super Mario, Luigi, Wario, and Varuigi, said he’s actually not sure what his new role as Mario’s ambassador will be. Recently, we reported that Martinet, who played Mario for three decades, will no longer be voicing the character.
Instead, he’s now Ambassador Mario, whatever that means.martinette in austinGalaxyConSpeaking on Twitter, he said he wasn’t sure what he was doing now, but he knew he wasn’t retired.
“I’m now, you’ve probably seen the news, I’m Ambassador Mario, I don’t know what that is yet, I haven’t retired, but I’m an ambassador, and as we move into the future, I’ll learn and we’ll all Know what the heck that is, but at the same time… I’ve been an ambassador for Nintendo and Mario and all of this because I just cherish every moment of it and I hope your love for the game continues and Grow in my way, so thank you very much.
Martinet wasn’t involved in the upcoming Super Mario Bros. Wonder, so it’s really the end of an era as we say goodbye to one of the most iconic voices in gaming.
