Charles III to take break from cancer treatment during important engagement

Charles III is preparing to take a (real) break! The British king’s doctors authorized him to “pause” his cancer treatment during a nine-day stay in Oceania from October 18, according to the Daily Mail. This will be the first stay of the sovereign and his wife, Queen Camilla, in this region of the world since his accession to the throne.

The couple will first travel to Sydney and Canberra, Australia, then to Samoa where a Commonwealth meeting will be held, before returning to the UK on October 26. This trip, which will cause him to miss one of these weekly treatments, should not affect his recovery since his doctors have noted, according to ITVthat his progress had exceeded their expectations.

Clear progress observed

According to the MirrorCharles III, a nature lover, coupled his chemotherapy with alternative therapies including a healthy diet, plenty of time outdoors and frequent family visits to speed his recovery. Especially since the king, who is a “workaholic” according to a source cited by the tabloid, had difficulty “slowing down” but arranged so that “everything was in place so that he can return full time. A fact already mentioned by his nephew, Peter Philips, who told Sky News Australia in March that the king was “in good spirits”, but also “deeply frustrated” by the restrictions imposed by his treatment.

Buckingham Palace revealed in a statement in February that a “form of cancer” had been detected in the king following prostate surgery a few days earlier. Although the exact nature of his cancer has not been revealed, Charles III had to leave the public for some time in order to continue his treatments.
