Queen Elizabeth II died at the age of 96 on Thursday September 8. On the throne as the ruler of the United Kingdom, she sat for 70 years and 214 days, making her the longest-reigning of all British monarchs and the longest-reigning female head of state in history.
Elizabeth II was born on April 21, 1926. Therefore, had she lived, she would have been close to her 100th birthday. Charles III decided to celebrate this special date. The son of the late ruler published a previously unknown photo on his social media.
The photo that appeared on the official profile of Camlila and Charles on the birthday of the late queen was taken shortly before the death of Elizabeth II.

Her Majesty Queen Elizabeth would have celebrated her 97th birthday today. This photo – showing her with some of her grandchildren and great-grandchildren – was taken in Balmoral last summer
– the photo was signed
The caption suggests that the photograph may have been taken during the Queen’s Platinum Jubilee celebrations. Harry and Meghan’s children were there at the time, celebrating with their grandmother. It is therefore surprising that Archie and Lilibet were not captured in the photo.
