Born in 1952 in Paris, the artist had an atypical life journey. “I was a child in public assistance, one of the first to be removed for aggravated abuse”he remembers.
“At the time, we were not well seen. We were considered the children of lazy people or thugs. Whereas in my case, my father was the son of a diamond merchant. It was accepted that the children in the audience should work as soon as possible to repay their debt to society. This is why we were directed directly to technical high schools. I fought to study Fine Arts.. He will be helped in his approach by the progressive director of his high school in Allier. It was during his studies that he took up music, and was invited to participate in Printemps de Bourges when it was launched in 1977. This was his first meeting with stars, and it would not be the last. . Shortly after, he came to live in Béziers where his partner’s mother had settled. In the town of Riquet, he will work alongside Jérôme Savary in the management of the Théâtre des Franciscains. One thing led to another and he made contacts which allowed him, in the 1980s, to leave Béziers for… Cannes. Indeed, with his experience working with artists and actors, Charles de Lange was recruited by several film companies to organize promotional tours for films. The opportunity to meet a few people named Al Pacino, Tom Cruise, Harrison Ford… Today, after 30 years in cinema, he has returned to his first loves, Béziers and song.
“I am a songwriter, I sing mainly in the folk register, with Bob Dylan as my main influence, but also French authors like Brel, Ferré, Polnareff…” These are his own compositions that he will perform at Maison Cordier. Other concerts will follow in Béziers next year.
