The state tour to Australia and Samoa has begun. Next week, King Charles and Queen Camilla will visit the two countries, which are part of the British Commonwealth. Look!
On Friday afternoon (local time), the British royal couple landed in rainy Sydney. They were officially welcomed there by, among others, the Prime Minister of Australia, Anthony Albanese. Portraits of Charles and Camilla are set to be placed on Sydney’s famous Opera House to welcome them.

Previous tours
This is the sixteenth time King Charles has made a major trip to Australia, but this is the first time as head of state. In a video on Instagram, the royal couple look forward to “returning to this beautiful country”. The video shows various archival footage from visits made by Queen Elizabeth and the late Prince Philip to Australia. A young Prince Charles also appears in it.

Treatment for cancer
The British royal couple will go ‘Down Under’ for the first five days of the state tour. For this time, King Charles is resting treatment for cancer. Among the many meetings, it is also planned to visit two professors. They treat people affected by melanoma, one of the most common types of cancer in Australia.
