Electric car manufacturers are busy invading the streets and presenting their flagship line with a myriad of advantages. However, one feature that is often expected by users is the short charging duration.
So what about Tesla? Yep! This electric car company from the United States does have a Tesla Supercharger. This public charging facility has been recorded as available for more than 45 thousand units throughout the world. But unfortunately, there is none in Indonesia yet.
This makes us curious, how long does it take to charge Tesla with general and non-Supercharger chargers. The detikOto team immediately tested the Tesla Model 3 Standard Range Plus, which was lent by Prestige Image Motocars.
In this test, the Tesla Model 3 that we brought had 50% battery left. Then we did a charging test at a public electric vehicle charging station (SPKLU) owned by PLN located in South Jakarta and used a 60 kW DC charger.
It was noted that from 50% to 80% it took no more than 20 minutes. However, the power charging rate drops when the battery has passed 80%, even the power that was 60 kW can drop to just 5 kW.
This is normal and confirmed by Tesla as well. According to them, charging will be slower when it reaches 100%.
“Your vehicle charges faster when the battery charge is at lower levels; charging slows down when the battery is fully charged. Depending on your goals, fully charging the battery is often unnecessary,” wrote Tesla on its official website.

Now! Our testing continues. It turns out that charging from 50% to 100% takes about 49 minutes. This note is written on the payment receipt issued by the PLN SPKLU application.
In the charging test that we did, it turned out that the electric power that was filled for 49 minutes was 25.3 kWh. Then the fee we need to pay to fill the Tesla Model 3 to the full from 50% is around IDR 64,000. Following are the details of the costs:

From this test it can be judged that the charging of the Tesla Model 3 is relatively balanced with most electric cars circulating in Indonesia, especially electric cars that are capable of being charged with DC current or fast charging.
Tesla claims that this car can be charged very quickly, in fact it is claimed that it only takes 15 minutes to get a distance of 162-200 miles. However, this can be achieved if this car is charged using a Tesla Supercharger, which in fact, in the V4 model, the power reaches 250 kW.
