Charges filed against suspect in murder of nurse he met on Tinder | Univision 41 New York WXTV

Daniel Drayton31, was charged this week in New York with murder a nurse he met on Tinder and then rape his corpse. Prosecutors filed charges of murder, sexual misconduct, identity theft and grand theft, among others, in a Queens court.

Through a statement, the Queens District Attorney’s Office reported that it will prosecute Drayton for the death of Samantha Stewart, a 29-year-old nursewhom he had met on the dating app called Tinder.

Drayton, who lived in New Haven, Connecticut, dated Stewart on a romantic date on July 16, 2018. After they returned home, he strangled herprosecutors say.

After the crime, which happened in 2018, Drayton stole the nurse’s credit cardsand with one of them he bought a ticket to California, where he has lived for the last few years. Last week, he was flown to New York for his trial.

Stewart’s brother found his naked body wrapped in a blanket in the corner of his bedroom the next day. His teeth had been knocked out.

“This was a brutal crime that makes every person who uses a dating app fearful,” Queens District Attorney Melinda Katz said after her arraignment.

“The victim was tricked into going out on a date with the defendant, who he played a charming role online, but in reality he was an alleged sexual predator.”

Danueal Drayton, 31, was arraigned Friday in Queens Supreme Court, after spending four years in custody in Los Angeles for an unrelated crime.

According to a press release issued by the Queens District Attorney’s Office, the indictment covers a total of 18 counts.
