Charges are filed against a couple for a pattern of abuse and sexual harassment of two minors

The authorities filed charges against a man and a woman for a pattern of abuse and sexual harassment of two minors, in events that occurred between 2017 and 2020 in San Sebastián, reported the Interim Justice Secretary, Inés del C. Carrau Martínez , and the district attorney of the Aguadilla Prosecutor’s Office, José Aldebol Colón.

The facts show that between 2017 and 2020, Carlos Lebrón Ramírez subjected two minors to a pattern of sexual abuse and harassment, one of them being his stepdaughter. Meanwhile, Damaris Borrero Rodríguez, mother of one of the minors, had knowledge of the pattern of mistreatment and sexual abuse to which the minor was subjected, asking her not to say anything. The second youngest was a friend of the stepdaughter. The accused committed lewd acts against both minors and put them at risk of suffering damage to their integrity, mental and emotional health by sexually harassing them, according to Justice.

Lebrón Ramírez was charged with two charges for violation of Article 133 Lewd Acts of the Penal Code and two charges for violation of Article 59 Negligence of Law 246, Law for the Safety, Welfare and Protection of Minors. Meanwhile, Damaris Borrero Rodríguez faces a charge for violation of Article 60 Non-compliance with orders in cases of Institutional Abuse or Institutional Negligence of Law 246.

Judges Dennis Feliciano Crespo and Dinorah Martín Hau of the Aguadilla Court of First Instance saw the cases of the minors separately and determined cause in all charges and imposed on Lebrón Ramírez a monetary bond of $ 30,000 plus the use of a shackle and “lockdown” 24/7.

Borrero González was given a monetary bond of $ 10,000 plus the use of a shackle and 24/7 lockdown. The preliminary hearing was scheduled for both defendants for September 17, 2020.

The investigation was carried out by prosecutors Benjamín Miranda Rivera and Milagros M. Guntín Pagán in conjunction with agent Alexis Cardona of the Aguadilla Sex Crimes Division of the Puerto Rico Police Bureau.
