The artistic director of the London Philharmonic Orchestra (RPO), Charles Dutoit, has been accused of committing sexual abuse against four women musicians over a period of fifteen years, confirmed the prestigious institution, which has dispensed with their collaboration.
The London Philharmonic said in a statement that following accusations of “inappropriate behavior” attributed to the 81-year-old conductor, it has been agreed “jointly” to stop having him face to concerts “in the immediate future ”.
“As a leading international formation, the Philharmonic Orchestra is committed to the highest standards of ethical behavior, which are assumed by everyone who works with the RPO,” the note indicates.
The orchestra “takes its responsibility very seriously to maintain a safe work environment for all of its artists, musicians and employees,” he adds.
Regarding the accusations of the four women against the Swiss director, winner of two Grammy awards, the Philharmonic also points out that “the truth of this matter will be determined by the legal process,” reports Efe.
“The immediate measure adopted” by the RPO leaves time to establish, in a “clear way”, what happened, explains the statement, which states that the director “should be given a fair opportunity to seek legal advice and refute the accusations ”.
