The sixty-year-old was planning to end his life
According to the first elements communicated by the Angoulême prosecutor’s office, the alleged perpetrator of the shots would have waited “in ambush” for his daughter and her son-in-law on leaving their home. The alleged shooter was arrested by the gendarmes shortly after the facts at the wheel of his car near a pond in the neighboring department of Dordogne, where he intended to end his life. Still according to the prosecution, between three and five shots were heard. One of them reached the bay window of a neighboring family. Two children residing in this house were shocked and taken into care at the Camille-Claudel hospital in La Couronne.
