Dehradun. The doors of the famous Kedarnath, Gangotri and Yamunotri Dhams located in the upper Garhwal district of Uttarakhand, after being closed for six months during the winter season, will be opened for the devotees on the Akshaya Tritiya festival on Friday and with the event this year. Chardham Yatra will begin.
The Chief Minister Pushkar Singh Dhami, while congratulating the devotees who were coming on Chardham Yatra, said that he is praying to God for the safe completion of the Yatra.

The Temple committees said the doors of Kedarnath and Yamunotri will open at 7 am, while the doors of Gangotri will open at 12:20 pm. According to him, the doors of Badrinath, another Dham included in the famous Dhams known as Char Dham, will open at 6 in the morning on 12 May. Harish Gaur, who heads the Badrinath Kedarnath Temple Committee, said that the temple is decorated with flowers for the inauguration of the Kedarnath temple.
He said that with the help of donors, the temple has been decorated with around 20 quintals of flowers of different species which were transported there through a helicopter.

According to officials, there is great enthusiasm among the devotees regarding the yatra and till 4 pm on Thursday, more than 22 lakh devotees have registered themselves for the Char Dham. According to the Chardham Yatra Registration Bulletin, so far the number of registrations through web portal, mobile app and WhatsApp has reached 22,28,928. This time also the government has announced that they will spray flowers from a helicopter during the opening of the doors of the four Dhams.

In a statement issued here, the chief minister welcomed the devotees and said that the government is making efforts for a safe Chardham Yatra. He said that it was an effort of the state government that the devotees who return home after completing the yatra should take gold souvenirs with them. Describing the Chardham Yatra as a celebration for the state, he expressed confidence that this year’s Chardham Yatra will break all its previous records.

135 vehicles left for Chardham from Rishikesh
Meanwhile, 135 vehicles carrying 4050 devotees left for Chardham from Rishikesh. While flagging off the vehicles, Uttarakhand Cabinet Minister Premchand Aggarwal said that this year the highest number of devotees will reach Chardham for darshan. The locals also wait for the beginning of the Chardham Yatra which takes place every summer. During this six-month long Yatra, lakhs of devotees and tourists come from India and abroad which are a source of employment and livelihood for the people and that is why the idea that Chardham Yatra is the backbone of economy of Garhwal Himalayas.

Due to the heavy snow and severe cold in the Dhams in winter, their doors are closed for the devotees every year in October-November, which are opened again in April-May the following year.
