Charcoal drawings to cover the tunic of the Lord of the Blood of Córdoba

The Corinto Commission, of the Cistercian brotherhood, on its path to making the new tunic of the Lord of Blood, trusts the Sevillian artist Pepillo Gutiérrez Aragón to draw its owners.

It will be with the technique of charcoal and it is the first project that this creator receives in the province of Córdoba, so for him it will be his gateway to Holy Week in this land.

This commission will give the brotherhood the original paintings “to increase its artistic heritage, and they will be for sale 50 reproductions of each original, signed, authenticated and numbered by its author,” according to the brotherhood.

Each leaf It will have a price of 50 euros and if anyone interested would like it framed, they must contact the commission.

About the author, José Julián ‘Pepillo’ Gutiérrez Aragón, the corporation remembers that he was born in Seville in 1980 and has a degree in Law from the University of Seville. He has dedicated a large amount of work to world of brotherhoodsand has received training from his teacher, the watercolorist Aurelio Domínguez Carranza.

His works are made mainly in the graphite technique on schooller cardboard, and is specialized in “close-up realism”, where you can appreciate the details of the images. Currently he has begun to use various mixed techniques of drawing and ink-toned paper.

Among his production, the poster of the Holy Week in Seville of 2018, that of University Proclamation (Students) of 2017 and the Corpus of Seville collective of 2019, along with the site ballot for the extraordinary departure of the anniversary of the Esperanza de Triana in 2018 and the illustration of the rule book of the brotherhood of Cerro del Águila in 2020 .

The Cistercian also cites that Gutiérrez Aragón created the commemorative borders of the 75th anniversary of the Mayor Dolor (brotherhood of the Waters in 2020) and the 50th anniversary of the Virgin of Guadalupe (the Waters), the book cover ‘Pregón de la Semana Santa de Sevilla 2018’ and the site ballot for the 25th anniversary of the Gran Poder de Granada, among many others.

He has also made site ballots and newsletter covers or yearbooks of the Museum brotherhoods, Vera Cruz, Siete Palabras, Montesión, las Aguas, Cigarreras, La Misión and Madre Dios del Rosario.

Additionally, he participated in exhibitions such as the 400th Anniversary of Murillo (Seville City Council) 2018, ‘One Hundred Years of Bitterness’, the Macarena Exhibition at the Círculo Mercantil, and the exhibition 100 years of the Coronation of Virgen del Rocío, in Almonte, among others.

In February they gave Pope Francis a drawing of the Virgin of Guadalupe, from the brotherhood of the Waters of Seville. His most recent project is at the Virgen Macarena University Hospital, in the ‘7 Hopes Mural’.

The Sevillian Gonzalo Navarro Ambrojo made the artistic design of the tunic for the Lord of the Blood and the workshop Santa Clara Embroidery, from Seville, will be the one to carry it out.

All of this as an offering from a group of brothers for the fiftieth anniversary of the blessing of the Lord of the Blood. This new initiative is added to the open donation campaign.
