American singer Chappell Roan denounced on her social networks the harassment that she and her family are subjected to, in TikTok videos on Tuesday, August 20.

PEOPLE – Getting your music known isn’t all good. American singer Chappell Roan, real name Kayleigh Amstutz, denounced this Tuesday, August 20 in two videos on her TikTok account that have already accumulated more than 14 million views, the harassment she suffers as she becomes more and more popular. The artist complains about “scary behaviors” from some of his fans.

The singer lists several: fans who she refuses to take photos of in the street and who then get angry, others who follow her around, online harassment or even some who yell at her in public from their cars…

“I don’t care if abuse and harassment are a normal thing for famous or somewhat famous people”she says. “I don’t care that this kind of crazy behavior goes hand in hand with the job, the career I’ve chosen. That doesn’t make it acceptable,” the star is indignant, whose first album, The Rise and Fall of a Midwest Princess, is this week, at second place on the Billboard top 200, only behind Taylor Swift’s new album.

Several celebrities set their limits

“It’s weird that people think you know someone just because you see them online and listen to their music.”poursuit Chappell Roan. “I have the right to say no to creepy behavior (…) I don’t care if you think it’s selfish of me to say no to a photo, your time, or a hug.”she insists.

Chappell Roan is far from being the only major artist to denounce this kind of behavior, as the BBC. Justin Bieber had already announced, in an Instagram post, that he would no longer accept photos with his fans, while the incessant requests made him feel like “a zoo animal”. The actress of Games of Thrones Emilia Clarke had made the same decision, while a fan had already woken her up during a flight to ask for a selfie, and another in the middle of an anxiety attack in a public place.
