The Galignani Hospital opened its doors in 1866. Its construction was largely financed thanks to the generosity of the Galignani brothers. The hospital marked an important step in the hospital history of Corbeil-Essonnes. Originally, the hospital had 100 beds. This figure was significant: in fact, it was a lot compared to other hospitals of the time. Nuns and professional doctors then provided care to the sick.
Over time, the building underwent expansions and adapted to medical advances. Thus, many parts of the hospital underwent redevelopments. However, others remained unchanged and are still visible today.
