Jakarta, CNBC Indonesia – The rupiah exchange rate against the United States (US) dollar strengthened in the middle rate of Bank Indonesia (BI). However, the country’s currency has been sluggish in trade spot market.
On Monday (14/8/2020), the BI middle rate or the Jakarta Interbank Spot Dollar Rate / Jisdor reference rate was at IDR 14,974. Rupiah strengthened slightly to almost flat at 0.03% compared to last week’s position.
Meanwhile, in the spot market arena, the rupiah weakened 0.13% to IDR 14,880 / US $ at 10:00 WIB. In fact, when the rupiah market opened, it was able to strengthen even though it was only slightly at 0.07%.
Unfortunately, the depreciation of the rupiah occurred when the majority of Asian currencies strengthened against the US dollar. Apart from the rupiah, only the Indian rupee is still weakening. However, a decline of 0.13% was enough to make the rupiah the weakest in Asia.
The following is the development of the US dollar exchange rate against the main currencies of the Yellow Continent in spot market trading at 10:05 WIB:
