Chaos on the Roads: Winter Tires Needed as Traffic Accidents Soar

Anders Fægri lives on Hellerudtoppen in Oslo. Even though he got winter tires on last week, he couldn’t get the car up the hill.

– I tried to get up, but I was left spinning. So I parked at the bottom of the hill, so you can walk the rest of the day.

He says he has seen several cars on the roads without winter tires that have spun on flat ground.

– It is very idiotic. I was really screwed last week.

Over 100 reports of traffic accidents

There are perhaps more people who should leave the car on Monday morning.

During the morning hours, emergency services and tow trucks have been working hard to help motorists who have driven off the road in Eastern Norway.

Head of duty in South-East 110 Are Reinhartsen shares the call from the Road Traffic Center and the police.

The snow continues throughout the day

The snow has settled in several places in Eastern Norway, Viken and Southern Norway last night. The snow will also continue throughout the day. this is reported by Meteorologist on Duty Ingrid Bentsen.

– It will probably continue with precipitation throughout the day today and it is so cold that most of it will come as snow, says Bentsen.

She adds that it is Vestfold and Telemark and Eastern Norway that receive the most rainfall. Up to 15 centimeters of snow can be expected here.

– It won’t be dry until Tuesday, but there won’t be any changes in the temperature, so the snow will probably stay put.
