Chaos in the center-right after the Arcore summit, Fdi on the attack – Politics

In the center-right there is total chaos: less than a month from the administrative offices, the coalition is vertically split on everything, with the Brothers of Italy attacking on many fronts, from the hitherto unanswered request for an “anti-mess” pact that excludes any future alliance with Pd and M5s, at the crux of Nello Musumeci’s reappointment to the Sicily Region. The summit of leaders, organized in Arcore, should have marked a first step towards a thaw after the waste accumulated in the past months. It came as a surprise, 145 days after the last meeting in Villa Grande, on Christmas Eve, when the common goal was to wrest the Quirinale from the center-left.

Then, as is well known, that flop brought with it other rifts, incommunicability and continuous controversies. A politically and humanly unbreathable climate, which not even the Knight’s hospitality was able to mitigate. To try to sweeten the atmosphere, Silvio Berlusconi welcomed the two allies by giving each of them a painting of a Madonna. But the two Virgins did not work the miracle. That things did not go smoothly is understood immediately, when the League’s delegation formed by Matteo Salvini and Roberto Calderoli leaves Villa San Martino alone, after coffee. The League makes it known laconically that the secretary “is very satisfied” with the meeting. Another hour goes by, it’s 5pm, when Silvio Berlusconi comes out to assure journalists that the center-right is united: “It is clear that if we disunited we would lose the elections, only a madman could think of destroying this coalition. the program, we will have only one, the coalition goes ahead quickly “, he concludes. No mention of the usual joint communiqué, with which the coalition has often tried in the past to mitigate internal dissensions. On the other hand, a note arrives at the fulminato of Fratelli d’Italia in which the points of fracture with the allies are listed, one after the other, in a merciless way.

“It is certainly positive to have met but the unity of the coalition is not enough to declare it. It must be built in deeds”, begins Meloni’s party, which emphasizes the 5 capitals in which breakfast must be divided. Then the thrust on the “not yet formalized re-nomination of the outgoing president Nello Musumeci in Sicily, on which Berlusconi’s staff declared availability stopped in front of Salvini’s request to delay the announcement of the candidate”. Hence the denunciation of “still smoky rules” on alliances and common programs. Some say that there was an agreement not to rekindle the controversy to avoid single notes and that Fdi would have violated this hypothesis. It is no coincidence that in Meloni, for the League, Salvini does not reply but the Palermo Northern League player Nino Minardo: “The doubts about Musumeci – counterattacks – are not of Salvini or of the League, but rather of the clear majority of Sicilians according to the latest poll”. Finally, as the icing on an increasingly inedible cake, Arcore reveals the hard reaction of the Knight who says he is “surprised and irritated” by the note of the Brothers of Italy. Berlusconi was not happy with the choice of publicly giving him that opening, albeit personal, on the re-nomination of Musumeci. From via della Scrofa they reply surprised: it was Berlusconi – they tell – who showed us a note from him confirming his opening in Musumeci.
