Chaos in Japan: Local PS5 sales are getting out of hand

It is still very difficult to get a PS5 console today. The worldwide scarcity of the console is hard for many gamers and you often have to be very fast to get one. The Japanese retail chain “Yodobashi Camera” recently also experienced this. The Akihabara branch held a physical PS5 sale on the “first come first serve” principle. In retrospect, this turned out not to be such a smart idea …

According to Kotaku there would have been 300 consoles available, while the horde of customers consisted of a much greater number. When the crowd seemed to realize that there wouldn’t be enough supplies for everyone, the proverbial hell broke loose. Store employees were pushed back by the huge crowd, which was increasingly crowded together. The police eventually had to intervene and the sale was halted. You can watch some images on the video below.

Scenes like this are of course harrowing to watch, especially considering that the current pandemic is still not over. We all love to play games, but keep it safe!
