Hamburg’s policy reacted with horror to the storming of the US parliamentary seat by Trump supporters with riots and four deaths in Washington.
Hamburg’s First Mayor Peter Tschentscher (SPD) was concerned. He hoped that Congress could continue its work in accordance with the constitution, he tweeted on Thursday night. The second mayor Katharina Fegebank (Greens) made a similar statement. It is “between horror, anger and sadness.”
Ploß warns of leftists and AfD
With a view to the USA, the CDU state chairman Christoph Ploß warned of a threat to democracy in Germany and called on all democratic parties to draw a firewall to the Left Party and the AfD. Those who get involved in these parties are preparing the ground for the fact that in Germany, too, at some point there will be images like those in Washington, said Ploß.
