Semarang, CNN Indonesia —
concert band Slender at the Diponegoro Stadium, Semarang, on Sunday (21/5) was marked by chaos. The officers fired tear gas at the crowd.
One of the Slank fans, Andre, said that the chaos occurred when the spectators who did not register their tickets broke through the barrier gate so they could enter the arena in the stadium.
“They say it’s free, but where are we not allowed to enter. Why use all the gates closed? That’s Slank playing,” said Andre.
This Slank concert is free. The Semarang City Government held this concert in commemoration of the 476th Anniversary of Semarang City and Anti-Corruption Day.
However, for the sake of order and limiting participants according to stadium capacity, spectators are expected to register on the website
The masses who did not register started rioting by throwing bottles of mineral water, stones and pieces of wood at the security officers. The officers shouted several times to warn the crowd.
However, the masses were ignored, so the officers finally took decisive action by firing tear gas at the masses.
In addition, the commotion outside the stadium started causing panic in the stadium, causing Slank to stop the concert for a few minutes.
“We have warned them, there is still anarchy. Yes, we will take firm and measured action, fire tear gas,” said Head of Sabhara Polrestabes Semarang AKBP Asep Supriyanto at the location.
The commotion finally subsided after officers and organizers opened the gate and invited all the masses of spectators outside to enter.
