Chaos at CFR. A train overtook the station, without stopping, 15 km from Suceava, on Friday morning. IR train 1752 left Suceava at 8:52 a.m., and 11 minutes later it should have stopped at Verești (15 km from Suceava). He missed the station and wasted a lot of time trying to get back. The train would have been stationed at Verești for over 100 minutes, leaving the station at 10.53.
The train accumulated delays even after that, leaving Bacău at 12.46 (instead of 10.45). He arrived in Bucharest around 5:00 p.m. Some sources stated that it was a failure of the locomotive on the braking side. Others said braking was impossible due to canola oil spills from a tanker on the railway. The big problem is that the passengers arrived at their destination late.
In August, on the CFR Craiova Regional line, train IR 1597 operated by CFR Călători passed through the Olteni station without stopping, although it had a stop by the book. The train stopped in the field, after passing the Olteni station premises.
In June 2023, passenger train R 5007 did not stop at Chitila station, although it should have, according to the timetable. The locomotive engineer of SNTFC CFR Călători realized too late that he had missed the station and waited for instructions. He had to back down, fittingly Club railway.

CFR Călători apologizes
CFR Călători reported that the incident occurred because oil leaked onto the track from a private freight train. CFR also mentioned that the passengers and crew of the train were always safe.
“Regarding the situation recorded today, September 8, 2023, in the Verești station, on the train IR 1752 Suceava Nord – Bucharest Nord, we specify that the reasons for its occurrence are not generated by CFR Călători.
In fact, the situation was generated by an infrastructure unavailability caused by oil leaking onto the track from the carriages of a private freight train. We note that the passengers and crew of the train were permanently safe. The train left the Veresti station, under safe conditions, with a delay of 110 minutes”, CFR Călători reported.
