The police intervened on Monday night at the emergency shelter for asylum seekers in Ugchelen, where it was “unfair”, according to a spokesman for the police in the east of the Netherlands. After a disturbance was reported, officers arrived on scene and found a small group of people at the reception area. This place was used to receive asylum seekers for the second time since it was opened.
Pictures from a correspondent showed local residents being kept away as a busload of asylum seekers arrived. According to the reporter, swear words can also be heard. The police spokesman said that the officers were discussed by those present.
Wait for the bus
The reception center in Ugchelen, an empty school building, is an option to fall back on when the registration center in Ter Apel is full. The first performance was held last week, without incident. This time, however, things were different, with unrest among local residents when the new group of asylum seekers arrived.
