According to Chantal, the first hairdresser visit is a ‘moment’ for every parent. ‘For me it certainly was, because it feels like yesterday when her hair disappeared because of that terrible chemotherapy. But look at her now! The most beautiful hair I’ve ever seen.’ To make the first time in the hairdresser’s chair unforgettable, they have gone the extra mile. ‘To make this an even more special moment, Jada was allowed pink hair. We are so proud of our champ.’

When Jada was two years old, her kidney cancer with metastases was discovered. Robert later told in Rooijakkers across the Floor that he still remembers the exact date on which they heard this news. “April 24, 2018. That is a date that you will not soon forget,” he says about this.
Robert was in England on the day, when his – then still pregnant – wife Chantal went to the doctor with their daughter Jada. After all kinds of investigations were carried out, Chantal already started ringing a bell.

The doctors said that Jada had a 12 by 12 centimeter tumor on her kidney, after which the ground sank under Chantal’s feet. “I started screaming and I started hitting him,” Chantal says. “I was shaking unbelievably,” she adds.
She decided to call Robert right away in England. Because of the shock Chantal was in, it was the doctor who brought the bad news to Robert. “I get the phone and the man says: ‘Your wife can’t speak and your daughter is here too. I’ve been diagnosed with cancer. It’s wrong. We’re going to the hospital now,'” says Robert back. “I sat on the floor. I went crazy,” he says.
