“Chantaaaal”: the Lot-et-Garonne drag queen in the spotlight

“Chantaaaal”, the drag queen from Cancon, is a hit in the show “France has an incredible talent”. Since October 31, she has enjoyed an enchanted break behind the spotlights and cameras of M6. “I loved it so much that I would like it to last as long as possible. I had a lot of fun on the sets, we had lots of little shoots here and there,” explains the one who performed “My Heart Will Go On ” during his first appearance before the juries, on October 31.

Realize his dream

After her first number, Chantaaaal managed to obtain three “yes” out of four from the jury. A result which allows him to reach the quarter-finals, which will take place on Tuesday December 12. And this time, Chantaaaal is full of surprises. “My first number was quite static. I want to show that I can dance,” she says. Her performance will revolve around the theme of travel, and to do this, Chantaaaal will make her entrance in a hot air balloon.

If Chantaaaal seems to be so comfortable on screen, it is also because the world of entertainment is not trivial for her. After graduating from the Paris theater conservatory and a contemporary dance school in Austria, she was able to realize her “childhood dream” by working in cabarets like that of Madame Arthur in Paris. Familiar with makeup, heels and skirts since a young age, it was in 2019 that she discovered the world of drag (a form of performance aimed at playing a gender in a deliberately exaggerated way using clothing, makeup and hairstyle) . It is therefore quite natural that she combines her dancing and singing skills with the world of drag.

“I am aware that I am immensely lucky”

Throughout her journey, Chantaaaal has always been able to count on the support of her family. “I am aware that I am immensely lucky and privileged to be able to have the support of my family and that they can be there because unfortunately for LGBTQIA+ people this is not always the case. And above all, even in outside of that, around drag it’s not always easy for families to accept that… So the fact that they are there, it shows a beautiful message of acceptance and love”, declares the originating from the “land of hazelnuts”.

All good things have an end. After the show “France has an incredible talent”, Chantaaaal will continue to prepare her show, “La passion de Chantaaaal”. The young drag queen would like to have the opportunity to organize cabaret evenings or even to do television again. Suffice to say that Chantaaaal is full of life and that life has many surprises in store for her. Perhaps that of reaching the final of “France has incredible talent”?
