Former darts world champion Gerwyn Price made it to the semi-finals of the World Matchplay in Blackpool, England, making him number one in the world again. (PDC Order of Merit: Current world rankings in darts)
The Welshman beat the Portuguese Jose de Sousa 16:14 on Friday evening and overtook world champion Peter Wright, who was eliminated in Blackpool in the quarter-finals.
For Price, it is the first semi-final appearance in the second most important tournament of the year, in 2015 and 2021 he failed in the round of eight.

Noppert prevailed against his fellow countryman
In the semifinals, Price meets Dutchman Danny Noppert, who had previously prevailed against his compatriot Dirk van Duijvenbode with 16:11. In the second semi-final on Saturday, three-time world champion Michael van Gerwen and Belgian Dimitri van den Bergh will face each other.
The final of the event at the Winter Gardens in Blackpool takes place on Sunday. A total of £800,000 in prize money will be awarded, with the winner receiving £200,000 and the Phil Taylor Trophy.
