Anderlecht has always had as a working model what Ajax’s ‘neighbors’ have been doing for several years, namely the strong commitment to the youth team to guarantee financial sustainability and sporting results, but little by little that approach will be changing. According to the newspaper ‘La Dernière Heure’, the Brussels team will now be trying to do something similar to what Benfica has been doing in recent times, namely in the commitment to signing young players to then achieve considerable gains in sales.
And all because of the admiration that Jesper Fredberg, the club’s new sporting director, began to have for Benfica’s method of working in the market. “Fredberg admires Benfica’s work. The Portuguese team continues to be very strong, but above all it is an inspiration in the field of recruitment.
The first indication of this paradigm shift has already begun to be seen in this off-season, with the signings of Kasper Dolberg, Louis Patris and Anders Dreyer, players with whom Anderlecht intends to at least triple the profit in the face of the amount invested. At least that’s the “dream”, according to ‘La Dernière Heure’.
