Changes to YouTube Partner Program Requirements for Content Monetization in 2023

YouTube has announced that in 2023, the requirements for content creators to use video monetization through the YouTube Partner Program will be gradually reduced by country. This will apply to both regular videos and YouTube Shorts.

Starting today, YouTube’s new requirements for video monetization in 2023 are as follows:

  • 500 subscribers
  • 3 valid publicly uploaded videos within 90 days
  • 3,000 hours of viewing last year

YouTube Shorts will require 3 million valid public views of your shorts within the last 90 days.

Previously, YouTube required 1,000 subscribers, 4,000 watch hours and/or 10 million views of short films to monetize content. The new conditions in this regard significantly reduce these requirements and give content creators the opportunity to earn earlier with their videos in the early stages of the channel’s operation.

YouTube’s blog post goes on to explain that there will also be fan-friendly features like member participation, Super Chat, Super Sticker and Super Thanks. Content creators will also be able to promote their products through YouTube Shopping.

These new requirements will not apply to all users, but initially only in the US, UK, Canada, Taiwan and South Korea.
