From next month, retirees and pensioners will not be able to earn as much as they do now. The Social Insurance Institution has reduced the limits applicable until the end of August.
Seniors receiving a disability pension or early retirement have the opportunity to supplement their benefits. They can draw a pension and still be employed. However, their income cannot exceed the limit set by the Social Insurance Institution once every three months. If the earnings of a pensioner or a person who has not reached retirement age (60 years for women, 65 for men) are above the set limit, this may result in a reduction or even suspension of the benefit received so far.

New income limit for pensioners and early retirees
Retirement earnings may not exceed 70% of average monthly salary . It is above this limit that the benefit is reduced by the amount exceeding the limit. So far, it amounted to PLN 4,987.00, but ZUS decided about its reduction by over PLN 80 to PLN 4,904.10. The amount of this limit is related to the decrease in average remuneration in the second quarter of 2023, which amounted to PLN 7,005.76, i.e. less than PLN 120 per month less than in the previous quarter (PLN 7,124.26).
As we mentioned, pensioners may also be completely deprived of the right to a pension. This happens when they earn more than 130 percent. average salary. Then the payment of the benefit is stopped. As with the previous limit, this one has also been lowered. From September, pensioners earning more than PLN 9,107.50 will not receive a pension. Previously, this limit was PLN 9,261.60.
When will the new limits for seniors come into effect?
The described limits will apply from September 1 and will be changed for the next quarter. Let us also emphasize that seniors who have already reached the general retirement age, i.e. 60 years for women and 65 years for men, can earn extra money without any limits.
