“Changes to Freedom of Movement Act/EU Implemented Through EU Regulations and Amendment to Residence Act”

With the law implementing Regulation (EU) 2017/2226 and Regulation (EU) 2018/1240 and amending the Residence Act, the Freedom of Movement Act/EU, the Act on the Central Register of Foreigners and the Ordinance on the Implementation of the Law on the Central Register of Foreigners of 24.04. 2023 (BGBl. I No. 106) Parts of the Freedom of Movement Act/EU were changed with effect from April 25, 2023.

The current version of the Freedom of Movement Act/EU can be found in Online Comment. The new § 2a FreizügG/EU was set here. In addition, § 17 FreizügG/EU, which has not yet come into force. In addition to the introduction of these two regulations, § 3a FreizügG/EU in particular has been changed. By eliminating the rigid 2-year period, the compatibility of the regulation with Union law was ensured.
