Jakarta –
Acting (Pj) Governor of DKI Jakarta Heru Budi Hartono responding to changes to the enforcement system which no longer imposes fines for vehicles that do not pass or fail emission test. Heru handed over all decisions to the police.
“Yeah follow just. “It’s up to the police friends (who) know the policy,” said Heru at DKI Jakarta City Hall, Jalan Medan Merdeka Selatan, Central Jakarta, Monday (11/9/2023).
Heru does not yet know the detailed reasons for the system change. Even so, Heru confirmed that his party would follow this decision.
As is known, the police have changed the system of taking action against vehicles in Jakarta that do not pass the emissions test. Now drivers who do not pass the emissions test will no longer be ticketed.
“Yes, in the future we won’t be ticketing (those who) don’t pass,” said Inspector Wasda Polda Metro Jaya who is also Head of the Air Pollution Control Task Force, Commissioner Nurcholis when contacted, Monday (11/9).
Previously, fines were applied to those who did not pass the emissions test. Residents whose motorbikes fail the emissions test will be fined IDR 250 thousand, while cars will be fined IDR 500 thousand.
Nurcholis said the fine was removed because it was deemed ineffective. Now people whose vehicles do not pass the emissions test are only advised to have their vehicles serviced.
“It turned out that the ticketing was not effective, so after a Task Force that did not pass the test was asked to have it serviced, and we tried to communicate with dealer to help with service,” he said.
