It has been shaking for one of the largest companies in the gaming industry for the third week in a row case lawsuits by the state of California, to which more and more revelations are gradually being added, such as a completely inappropriate questioning of a job seeker “whether she likes to be penetrated” (in connection with IT security, but the ambiguity of the question was more than obvious) or a revelation that one For a time, cameras were installed in toilets at the company.
After all sorts of excuses, apologies and assurances (you can recall their full text in our clear statement summary whole cases), strikes by employees and players, the statement of the gaming media that they will not write about the games of this company and, of course, the decline of shares (although not as big as you would expect) finally began to fall on their heads. Specifically, it happened directly to the president of Blizzard, who since 2018 was J. Allen Brack.
He is replaced by a couple who are to continue to run the company together. Their names are Jen Oneal and Mike Ybarra. Jen was previously the director of Vicarious Visions (now part of Blizzard and completing a remake of Diablo 2). Since January, she has participated in the Diablo and Overwatch series as executive vice president of development.
Mike worked for Xbox for years and joined Blizzard in 2019 as executive vice president and general manager of platform and technology, overseeing the evolution of Battle.net and the organization’s development services.
Among other things, foreign journalists warn that the departure of another key veteran from the ranks of Blizzard will undoubtedly increase the influence of Activision and its management in this organization. Whether this will mean changes for the better, whether in terms of working conditions for employees or the quantity and quality of games, remains to be seen. However, the company is looking for about 2,000 employees in its ranks – it is not difficult to imagine that many of these potential candidates will not want to work here.
