The National Center for the Territorial Public Service has modified the financing conditions for apprenticeship contracts and will no longer cover the training costs of apprentices. In Saint-Denis, 24 young people benefit from this training. If since 2018 the city has invested 250,000 euros per year to remunerate work-study students, the capital is now obliged to suspend recruitment intentions under an apprenticeship contract for the coming year. “We are unable to finance future apprenticeship contracts. The city is counting on the ministerial visit this week to be able to obtain answers on this sensitive subject” declared the municipality in the press release that we publish below ( Photo: sly/www.imazpress.com)

Work-study training allows young people, aged 16 to 30, to acquire theoretical knowledge in a specific field and to be able to apply it directly in the field. Since 2018, Saint-Denis had made a budgetary effort of around 250,000 euros per year to pay them.

As of July 31, 2023, the City had 24 apprentices, including 12 with disabilities. However, for the time being, the City of Saint-Denis is obliged to leave open the intentions of recruiting under an apprenticeship contract for the coming year. Indeed, while the enthusiasm for this device continued to grow, the president of the CNFPT modified the financing conditions for apprenticeship contracts and will no longer cover the training costs of apprentices.

Negotiations undertaken with the State by the CNFPT and the coordination of local public employers had made it possible to set rules for financing apprenticeships in the local public sector. But the latter will be set to disappear from 2024.

This is why the City of Saint-Denis wishes to challenge the State on a need for additional aid, as well as the other communities because without this financial support from the State, we are unable to finance future contracts. of learning.

The city is counting on the ministerial visit this week to be able to obtain answers on this sensitive subject.
