San Francisco’s mayor and police chief have vowed “changes” after a night of massive looting, a crime that is increasingly common in the city and which is driving businesses away.

At a press conference on the attack on businesses on Saturday, the Mayor of London Breed pledged “Changes” to the area which will limit access by car after the « horrible » night of crime. “We have to make it difficult for people to do what they did last night. Stop right next to a business, smash windows, erase anything they can carry, get straight into their cars parked at the curb and drive away ”, Scott said, adding that eight people have been arrested in what police believe are planned robberies.
Some of the looting was filmed, with few police in sight and many thieves passing through the police without resistance.

In addition to the Friday night vandalism and looting, a Nordstrom store in Willow Creek was hit on Saturday night by dozens of looters, who entered and looted the location within a minute, police said. Three employees were assaulted during the raid.
