Twitch is one of the best known platforms for streaming games, being used by thousands of users. This well-known Internet service is now under a lot of attention after a data theft was revealed.
What is known and has even been confirmed are 125 GB of information that appeared on the Internet. In this theft it is known that there is a lot of information about the service itself, ranging from the source code to the users’ passwords, passing through much more relevant information.
Data theft on the Internet is an increasingly frequent topic that affects many services and their users. This time the victim is Twitch and its users, who saw their data stolen and published publicly on the Internet.
From what is known, and has been revealed throughout the day, this publication seems to have been very large and relevant data from Twitch were revealed. It is said that much of the source code for this service and its apps is available and can be accessed via a simple torrent link.

In addition to this essential information, there is still much more data that has been made public. This includes data from 2019 on payments to streamers. In addition, there is also the possibility of the presence of user passwords, which even if they are encrypted can be obtained.
Naturally, this leak of information has already been recognized by Twitch itself, and the way it happened has not yet been revealed. Apparently, and of those revealed, this will only be the first of more publications with information that will be done.

The recommendation at this point is the same one that has already been revealed in many other situations. Users are recommended to immediately change their passwords and enable 2-factor authentication for their accounts. This is performed in the settings, on the tab Security and Privacy.
There is still a lot to know about this data theft and how it was done. Even more important is knowing what information has been removed and that it could be of great value to Twitch and its users.
