The campaign, which is being implemented periodically for a year, aims to bridge the gap between awareness of the disease and taking the necessary steps to help the target audience overcome psychological, social and environmental obstacles through four main axes, which are: changing behavior, promoting the culture of periodic examinations for early detection of breast cancer, and changing the outlook. society to prevent the disease and provide effective methods for dealing with it at all stages, ensuring access and coverage of clinical and radiological examinations (mammograms) of the breast for eligible groups, developing a unified registry for the disease, and promoting the use of the latest methods and technologies to detect and treat the disease.
Dr. Omniyat Al Hajri, Executive Director of the Community Health Sector at the Abu Dhabi Public Health Center, said: “The campaign highlights changing the concept of breast cancer in society, by changing the ways of narrating and talking about the disease, and encouraging all members of society, men and women, to take the initiative and change the story.” “By committing to proactive periodic examinations for early detection, and promoting their adoption of healthy lifestyles.”
The Abu Dhabi Public Health Center is working in cooperation with the strategic partners in this campaign, to increase the scope of implementing the goals at the health, social and educational levels, which are represented by the Ministry of Education, the Department of Education and Knowledge, the Department of Community Development, the Abu Dhabi Health Services Company “SEHA”, the M42 Healthcare Company, and… AstraZeneca and the Emirates School Education Foundation, to raise awareness about breast cancer and provide best practices for its prevention and treatment.
Sameh Al-Fanjari, head of the Gulf Cooperation Council region at AstraZeneca, said: “Despite scientific and medical progress, breast cancer still causes more deaths among women around the world every year, and there is no alternative here to more awareness, detection and early diagnosis, to reduce deaths resulting from it.” This type of cancer.
