Change of management at LAQUILA | Education portal NRW

The Ministry of School and Education reports:

The State Office for Quality Assurance and Information Technology in Teacher Training (LAQUILA) has a new director. On August 1, Dagmar Schüler took over the position from Reinhard Schulte, who had headed the LAQUILA, which was newly built in 2023, until his retirement. At the ceremonial handover in Dortmund on Monday, August 5, 2024, State Secretary Dr. Urban Mauer recognized the work of the founding director and wished Dagmar Schüler every success in her new role: “Reinhard Schulte has rendered outstanding services to schools in North Rhine-Westphalia for more than 30 years. In recent years, he has been particularly committed to organizing the training of our teachers in line with the latest trends. LAQUILA will consistently continue on this path with its new director Dagmar Schüler. Together we want and will further develop teacher training in North Rhine-Westphalia in terms of content and organization. I wish Dagmar Schüler every success in this task, which is as important as it is diverse.”

Dagmar Schüler is moving from the Ministry of Education to head LAQUILA. In Düsseldorf, the 45-year-old lawyer was most recently head of department for seven years, responsible for the staff of the subordinate authorities, which LAQUILA has been a part of since its foundation. Under her leadership, in addition to the further development of teacher training, the advice given to young people interested in becoming a teacher will also be intensified.

In addition, Dagmar Schüler and the approximately 90 employees of LAQUILA organize, among other things, the state examinations (“state examinations”) for teachers and are responsible for the IT of the 33 centers for practical teacher training nationwide, where teachers are trained in their preparatory service (“referendariat”).
