Whether it’s the redesign of the pedestrian zone, the wooden high-rise “Carl” on Carl-Hölzle-Strasse or the new construction of the evangelical community center on Melanchthonstrasse: since her appointment to the design advisory board in 2017, Dorothea Voitländer has accompanied and promoted many projects that have shaped the cityscape in Pforzheim . In the most recent meeting of the city’s advisory committee, construction and planning mayor Sibylle Schüssler finally said goodbye after five years of working together, as the city writes in a press release.

“Professor Voitländer has emphatically demonstrated her great expertise and her excellent eye for the current architectural and urban planning challenges in Pforzheim in recent years. I would like to thank you for your intensive and at the same time sensitive examination of the construction projects in our city and your great commitment to the design advisory board. I wish you all the best for the moment and I would be happy if we might meet again in future projects in Pforzheim. Our city can only benefit from this,” says Schuessler.

In 1994, Dorothea Voitländer, who was born in Munich, started her own business together with Konrad Deffner in her own office “dv Architektur und Stadtplanung” in Dachau. Since 1999, the architect has also been a professor at the faculty for architecture/civil engineering, design and drafting at the University of Applied Sciences in Würzburg-Schweinfurt.

Architect and urban planner Martina Baum follows Dorothea Voitländer. The Director of the Urban Development Institute and Professor of Urban Planning and Design at the University of Stuttgart has been self-employed since 2008 with her own office, Studio Urbane Strategie. Martina Baum researches architecture and living, urban development and spatial planning. Her focus is on urban transformation processes, urban development, urban planning and conversion. “We are very pleased that we have been able to recruit an equally distinguished specialist in Professor Baum, and we are very excited to see what accents you will set on our design advisory board,” says Sibylle Schüssler in Pforzheim, welcoming her.
