But how does it work exactly? As Mastercard writes in a press release, Click to Pay is an online checkout solution that promises fast and convenient payments. Mastercard debit, credit and prepaid cards can be used for this. The service was developed together with the industry association EMVCo as an industry standard.

The cards that are registered for Click to Pay also receive a so-called “token” – a kind of identification tag. This is intended to provide additional security when making purchases in online shops.
