Chanel’s Cruise 2023 Collection: A Journey through Nostalgia and Elegance in the Heart of Hollywood

Presented in Los Angeles this Wednesday, the Chanel Cruise fashion show for the summer season transported us to the historic studios of Paramount, the film production company. Between aerobic influence, roller skate style and Malibu beach spirit, discover the new collection of the French house.

It is a journey through several eras that Chanel offers us for its Cruise show, a fashion moment dedicated to mid-season lines ideal for the holidays. A line imbued with numerous references to typical Hollywood glamor and sexy gymnastics of the 80s/90s, revealed in front of an audience of celebrities.

An ode to the City of Angels

While a writers’ strike is currently affecting American production studios, Chanel has maintained its installation within the premises of Paramount in Los Angeles. 71 looks were unveiled to the public this Wednesday, carried by an atmosphere that juggles between nostalgia for the California of past decades and French elegance.

If several stories have been told through the silhouettes, it is clear that the artistic director Virginie Viard, in post since the disappearance of Karl Lagerfeld, was inspired by the aerobic trends specific to the 80s and 90s. We find the famous gaiters, available in football or sequin sock versions, close-fitting and openwork bodysuits, a beauty treatment worthy of Cindy Crawford’s brushings and shorties perfect for a moment in the pool after a gym class.

Here, we wear her triangle swimsuit below her logoed bustier Chanel and store your best lip gloss in a playful van-shaped mini-bag. The brand could also bring up to date clothes with very girly shades.

A roller skate wave comes to energize the outfits, as evidenced by the outfits composed of a wide crop top adorned with the brand’s mythical “5”, a sweatshirt dress and a satiny light blue tracksuit set. A few babycore elements, a big trend of the last few months, such as pink pieces and candy-colored fur jewelry and accessories, have also been spotted.
