Chances are a new Uncharted could be made at Naughty Dog

One of Sony Interactive Entertainment’s core studios sees a strong interest in the two franchises Uncharted and The Last of Us, which have been created over the past decade.

A Game Informernek gave an interview to Evan Wells and Neil Druckmann, a Naughty Dog has two co-chairs. Wells says they will absolutely continue to develop story-driven, single-player titles because approx. it is in their DNA to perform these stories. This, he says, will continue because single-player experiences are close to them.

This has attracted a lot of people to the Naughty Dog, it has inspired the players, and that’s why Wells thinks that as long as they can do that, they will remain “naughty dogs” on that line. (And when you think about it, what was the first more serious Naughty Dog game on PlayStation? Crash Bandicoot.

Druckmann added that there was never an expectation from Sony that times would change according to the company, and that they too would have to do something different in style. He sees that if the studio is working on something that makes them excited and passionate about it, the end result will also be great. (This is also generally the case for creative work.)

Then they mentioned Uncharted and The Last of Us IP as well, but Wells says they want to create new ones in addition to the old IPs because it can be exciting to create something new, but there’s also a lot of love for their previous IPs, and therefore all we will see results from both directions in the future. Thus, the new part of Uncharted cannot be ruled out either, and we did not mention The Last of Us in the title because its Factions mode will most likely develop into a standalone game, as we have written about before.

Of course, among the older IPs, Jak & Daxter cannot be forgotten either. The Naughty Dog can even return to this. After all, Insomniac Games also turned back to Ratchet & Clank.
