Chancellery helps the passage of all the tankers that still remained in Arica – CHANCERY :: BOLIVIA

After various efforts by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, in collaboration with the Chilean authorities, to date the passage of all vehicles stranded in the blockade 60 kilometers from Arica has been achieved, including tankers with fuel, heavy transport vehicles and the private vehicles that remained in the area until this Monday morning.

“Today (Monday), through the efforts of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs with the support of the Chilean authorities, the transit from Arica to Bolivia of 62 tankers with gasoline, diesel and crude oil has been achieved,” reported the Vice Minister. of Foreign Trade and Integration, Huáscar Ajata Guerrero.

The government authority recalled that last Saturday, a delegation from the Foreign Ministry and the Bolivian Consulate in Arica headed to Route 11 CH, part of the fundamental Chilean highway that connects neighboring countries. In their efforts, they managed to free 47 fuel tankers. Later, on Sunday, Chilean protesters allowed 111 tankers to pass through, as well as trucks with export and import products. Likewise, last Friday, also due to efforts by the Foreign Ministry, 150 tankers had already been brought through.

On the other hand, the Vice Minister announced that, after the negotiation with the Republic of Peru, tankers with diesel, gasoline and crude oil to the country can transit through the Desaguadero border crossing, in addition to the other Chilean border point of Pisiga.

The Ministry of Foreign Affairs will continue to monitor the situation at the borders and will ensure that the tankers entering Chilean territory can subsequently return to the country normally to avoid future setbacks that may affect transportation and trade between both countries.
