Chance of rain back in forecast for Metro Phoenix to start the week

PHOENIX – The monsoon season is over, but rain is back on the forecast for Metro Phoenix to start the week.

From Monday night there is a 50% chance of rain before increasing to 70% on Tuesday during the day National weather service.

The probability of rain drops to 20% in the course of the evening on Tuesday before it is cleared out during the night.

The high is expected to hit 97 degrees on Monday before dropping 10 degrees during the expected rainy weather on Tuesday.

The high temperatures are forecast to stay in the high 80s or low 90s for the rest of the week and into the weekend.

It was a wet monsoon season for the valley, with 23 days of rain from June 15 to October 1, the National Weather Service said, falling a day short of the 1896 record.

Phoenix Sky Harbor Airport 4.20 in Rain during the monsoon season, most since 6.34 inches in 2014 and third most in the past two decades.

The rain was a welcome sight for Valley residents after the combined total of 1.66 inches of rain during the previous two monsoons, much less than the average of 2.43 inches.
