The Morocco, winner of Zambia (3-1), and Guinea, winner of Rwanda (1-0), qualified on Sunday for the semi-finals of the African Nations Championship (CHAN) organized in Cameroon. The two teams join Cameroon and Mali who have ensured their presence the day before in the last four of this competition reserved for players playing in their local championships.
In Douala, defending champion Morocco did not have to force its talent to dismiss a Zambian team reduced to ten in the 20th minute. The Atlas Lions made the game easy by opening the scoring in the first minute through Soufiane Rahimi. Then, Mohammed Ali Bemmamer made the break (20th) before Ayoub El Kaabi, on the penalty spot, added to the bill five minutes from the break. The Zambians saved the honor by Moses Phiri (80th).
The last quarter-final which was disputed in Limbé, a city located 300 km from the capital Yaoundé, ended in the narrow victory of Guinea. The Guineans, long outnumbered after the early exclusion of Mouri Kanté (11th), held the dragee high in Rwanda. The debates were subsequently rebalanced after Rwanda in turn found itself at ten shortly after the break. And it was playmaker Morlaye Sylla who, on a free kick, sent the national Syli to the semi-final against his Malian neighbor who won the day before the Congo (0-0, 5-4, tab).
For its part, Morocco will challenge the Cameroonian host country on Wednesday, in a superb poster that looks like a final before the letter.
