The championship parade, in which the Argentines were supposed to pay tribute to Lionel Messi and the rest of the World Cup heroes, got out of hand. It was originally planned that the bus with the team would go on a long journey through the streets of the capital of Argentina. However, at first the bus had to change its route due to not being able to pass through the crowds. Eventually, the players had to be evacuated by helicopter.
Local media report that around 4 million people came out to celebrate Argentina’s victory at the 2022 World Cup.
